personally i like infernape o.o because he is ou xO and pwns lol
but u can try somethign else i fyou want since your starter's ev is prob gonan mess up
and then it depends ifyou want a mix nape or what ever its ur choice

mm i'd go for a jolly/naive infernape.

I would pick Chimchar coz it can help u in a long run and its really reliable if its only in game.

Um, if you are looking for a defensive starter pick Turtwig, if you are looking for something that can kill pick Chimchar.
For Turtwig I say Adamant nature or Relax/Impish. For Chimchar I'd say Adamant/Jolly- Attacker or Timid/Modest- Sp Attacker.

My vote goes to Chimchar, but like Kaien said, EVs are probably gonna get messed up...
If you choose Chimchar I'd say run Naive/Hasty for Mixape, or Jolly for all physical attacker...
There are other sets too, just go to smogon for the sets... Here's a linky:

Well, if you go for piplup go for the natures ive told you Timid, Modest, Jolly, Adamant (i have calm so you dont need it). But yeah id go with the penguin aswell. I personally started my adventure with chimchar but if i had to chose again id go with the smexy penguin
